Gone are army-less heroes, free wandering unit stacks, caravans and strange building choices, and back is pretty much the tidy, organised and Rating: 5 Stars. Creeping: Elleshar starts with Destruction and Enlightenment. Enlightenment, in addition to the XP bonus, gives you desperately needed knowledge points in week 1, so it is a great support skill to start with. He does waste a skill slot on the useless Scholar skill, his one blemish. Heroes 5 is legitimately good. After Heroes 4 changed some of the core mechanics of the franchise, Heroes 5 makes a nice return to (mostly) traditional Heroes gameplay. It has a few quirks, such as the battle camera and perceived map size, but there are also some nice additions, such as the initiative system. I think 7 is pretty fun, I got into the HoMM series this year and ended up buying 5, 6 and 7 in a sale after enjoying 3. I still haven't played 6 (need to dig down and figure out why it won't play) but I think 7 is pretty fun.
